3. Etsy Ads and Offsite Ads

Etsy’s Offsite Ads program places your listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms. Products with complete product data—including GTINs where applicable—tend to perform better in these paid placements because external advertising platforms use GTINs for product matching.

4. Wholesale and B2B Selling

If you sell wholesale through Etsy or via Faire (which integrates with Etsy), buyers—particularly retail stores—may expect products to have barcodes for their own inventory systems.

Do Handmade Products Need Barcodes?
